Architectural Design
Lurie began designing buildings in 1979, commencing with an 1800+ sq/ft
addition to his own 600 sq/ft 1898 Queen Anne victorian cottage in Santa Barbara, CA. Over the years he has designed many new homes, but specialized
in additions to historically significant
older homes. His focus with design is wide ranging, given his experience
in other countries and his studies of historical architecture. Currently Lurie chooses
to specialize in eco-sensitive construction techniques, such as adobe, straw bale, cob, etc.

rooms, revolving walls, astrological viewing ports, a two story

greenhouse, and many other innovative features. The drawings are of pen
and
ink, with no computer enhancing...practically a lost art in this day.
